About RenoScouter
-
RenoScouter is an Australian buyer side property platform focused on older, dated and imperfect homes with genuine renovation potential.
It helps buyers find houses worth a closer look, understand the opportunity and the risks, and work out whether a property may suit their life, budget and appetite for work.
-
RenoScouter is for buyers who are open to improving a home rather than buying something completely finished.
That includes first home buyers with vision, slow renovators, character home buyers, project minded owner occupiers and people looking for a more realistic way into the market.
-
RenoScouter may feature:
older and character homes;
original condition and dated houses;
renovator’s delights and fixer uppers;
liveable now, improve later homes;
deceased estate and overlooked properties;
post war through early 2000s homes with practical renovation potential;
coastal and regional homes where the property and location make a compelling case.
A house does not need to be cheap or completely untouched. It needs to give buyers a genuine reason to look closer.
-
No. RenoScouter is not a real estate agency or buyer’s agency.
It provides independent buyer side editorial content and links buyers to the original property listing or relevant source.
-
Unless expressly stated otherwise, no.
RenoScouter usually assesses properties using listing information, photographs, floor plans, public information and other available sources.
Buyers should always undertake their own inspections and due diligence before making a property decision.
-
The RenoScouter Score is an editorial assessment of how strong the apparent property opportunity is and what potential risks need attention.
It is not a valuation or a recommendation to buy.
The separate Best for recommendation identifies the types of buyers a property may be more likely to suit.
Property submissions
-
Selling agents, homeowners, private sellers, buyer’s agents and other authorised representatives can submit a property for RenoScouter consideration.
-
Yes.
RenoScouter accepts live listings, pre-market properties and off-market opportunities where the owner or authorised representative would like the property considered for coverage.
-
No.
RenoScouter decides which properties suit its editorial brief. Submission does not guarantee publication, a particular RenoScouter Score, a favourable assessment or featured placement.
-
Yes.
Suitable properties may also have access to paid promotional opportunities. Paid placement is separate from RenoScouter’s editorial assessment and does not influence the property’s score or conclusion.

Resources and advice
-
No.
RenoScouter checklists, planners, scorecards, articles and other resources provide general buyer information.
They are designed to help buyers ask better questions and organise their thinking, not replace property specific building, pest, legal, planning, financial or other professional advice.
-
RenoScouter resources are available through the Resources section and include tools for inspections, comparisons, due diligence and renovation decisions.
